Active produced this conference that was held in Orlando, FL. Each of the 10 breakout rooms was equipped with an audio and video system. For the general session Active built a custom designed set (pictured). The session also included two 15x20 ft screens, two 9x12 ft screens, two 42in plasmas, digital lighting system and full line array audio package. |
For this holiday production Active set a 3ft high center stage. Because the audience was positioned around three sides of the stage, the production required major rigging. Active flew over sixty pieces of box truss in order to rig, 47 intelligent lights, 18 speakers and monitors and two snow machines. |
They say great minds think a like. At this “Meeting of the Minds” everyone was thinking, “Who did this great production?!” Active turned this ordinary hotel ballroom into a mind warping production by using a custom set design made up of fully free standing spandex and tube framing, 2 spandex surrounded video screens with digital lighting and video. The show was a great success and our client didn’t “mind” one bit. | ||||||

You can always catch members of the Active team around town, doing our part to promote all the great associations we support and that support us! There is only one company that NACE called upon to participate in its November meeting Let’s Get Lit! –Your party in lights. Active provided the educational portion of the meeting, informing the audience on the importance and effects of lighting for events. Jason Shadix, Account Executive went over several basic lighting techniques, elaborate lighting productions and budgeting for lighting. The audience was enthused and excited by the ideas presented by Jason. |

Clydette Ross PR/Marketing Director for Active and Sr. Account Executive Jason Shadix will travel cross country to join hundreds of other event professionals for The Special Event. The Special Event 2007 Conference and Tradeshow will be held in Los Angeles, California at the LA Convention Center, January 9-12th. This is one of the premiere conferences of the year, attracting the top event connoisseurs from around the world. As Clydette agrees, “Last year in Dallas was my first time experiencing the show. We were a finalist for a Gala Award so it was almost overwhelming. This year we will have a chance to do more of the educational functions and I am really looking forward to that.” Be sure to keep checking Active Times for highlights from Jason’s and Clydette’s trip.

Finally you can put a face to the voice!! If you’ve ever called the Active offices you were probably greeted with the delightful greeting-“Thank you for calling Active Production and Design. Sherita speaking.” It is with great pleasure that we introduce the lovely lady behind the lovely voice, Mrs. Sherita Dunbar. Coming from a hospitality background, Sherita brings to Active an air of positive professionalism, which can get lost at times in this crazy business. Before Active, Sherita spent several years as the Front Desk Manager for a major hotel in Atlanta. Her attitude is refreshing. Sherita’s responsibilities are long and varied; she assists every department of the company in some form or fashion. She does so much for Active that it’s a wonder what we were doing before she came along! |

“All AV companies say they use top of the line gear. Why then do some companies charge so much more or less?” There are a couple of different answers for this question. First thing to consider is if the company actually owns that piece of equipment. Cross-renting costs the company. To make up for that cost, the AV company will charge the client. A company that has a bigger inventory that it owns and stocks, like for instance, Active, is able to help planners stay within their budgets. We don’t have to cross-rent gear...we already have it, plus a few more! Another scenario a planner should be aware of is that when working with an AV company you are not just renting gear, but you are investing in skilled professionalism. Sure there may be a company with a lower price, but are you sacrificing quality service? At Active, we ensure our clients get their money’s worth and then some. |
